Shia LaBeouf has walked away from movie Y: The Last Man.

The film is an adaptation of the comic book and would have reunited Labeouf with filmmmaker DJ Caruso for a third time.

The film follows a young man and his pet monkey who manage to survive a epidemic that has wiped out every mammel with a Y chromosome.

Speaking to Wizard the popular revealed that it was the similarities to his tranformers character Sam Witwicky that made him decline the role: "You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder. I don't know if it's that big a differential. It seems like he's the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again.

"I'm not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around."

LaBeouf is returning to the big screen later this month when he reprises the role of Sam, the role that made his a star, in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Everything that Labeouf has touched in recent years has been a huge success he followed up Transformers with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last summer along with Disturbia and Eagle Eye, all which topped the American box office.
