Shia LaBeouf has admitted that there are 'positives and negatives' about Megan Fox leaving the Transformers franchise.

Filming on the third instalment of transformers is currently underway with Fox, who left earlier this year and was replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

But LaBeouf is back as Sam Witwicky which Josh Duhamel and John Turturro also reprise their roles, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Patrick Dempsey have all joined the cast.

Speaking to MTV the actor said: "I think there's positives and negatives to [Fox] not being [in the movie].

"It's awesome that we get the discovery again. I think when everybody's vetted and everybody's been through these wars, then that discovery of the first film is nonexistent."

"It's kind of beautiful in that we get a new set of eyes, a fresh set of eyes for the audience to vibe with. So you get the discovery again, which is something that wouldn't happen if Megan came back."

LaBeouf has not been seen on the big screen since Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen last summer, a movie that went on to gross in excess of $836 million at the global box office, but returns next month with Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

The movie sees Oliver Stone return to the director's chair and Michael Douglas to the character of Gordon Gekko.

Transformers 3 is scheduled for release next summer.
