Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Stallone has been accused of stealing ideas for his The Expendables movie from another screenwriter.

The Hollywood tough guy co-wrote the script for the 2010 movie, which united him with action stars including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

However, he is now facing legal action from screenwriter Marcus Webb, who has filed a lawsuit in New York alleging The Expendables is based on his script for a project called The Cordoba Caper.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday (25Oct11), alleges Stallone's movie is "strikingly similar and in some places identical" to Webb's work and demands unspecified damages for copyright infringement as well as an injunction to stop work on The Expendables sequel, according to Reuters.

A second Expendables project is in the pipelie - but Stallone will not be directing the project this time around.

Simon West is in the director's chair this time around while Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are on the cast list.
