The Help

The Help has climbed to the top of the U.S. box office in it's second week of release.

Directed by Tate Taylor the movie stars Emma Stone and looks at what happens when a southern town's unspoken code of rules and behaviour is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

The movie was held off the top spot last week by The Rise of the Planet of the Apes - but this week saw the places reversed.

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes slipped just a single place down to two but still took another $16.3 million.

The movie has now taken in excess of $256 million at the global box office - as well as being met well by the critics.

Spy Kids: All The Time In The World was the highest new entry this week at three followed by Conan The Barbarian at four and fright Night at five.

The Smurfs was down two this week at number six while Final Destination 5 was this week's biggest faller, down four places from three to seven.

30 Minutes of Less was also down as it dropped three places to eight with One Day dropping to nine.
