Tim Burton is set to tackle another beloved Disney fairytale - he's in talks to revamp Sleeping Beauty as a live-action picture.

The moviemaker's new version of Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, hits cinemas later this year (10), and he's already planning his next imaginative spectacular.

Burton has set his sights on bringing Disney's 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty to life as a major motion picture, according to Aintitcool

The website reports Burton wants to re-title the story and focus on the film's dark fairy villain Maleficent, who lures the princess to 100 years of slumber.

The Sleeping Beauty fairy tale was created by French author Charles Perrault.

Alice In Wonderland sees Burton once again team up with actor Johnny Depp, for the first time since Sweeney Todd, for a live action movie.

Burton has brought together an impressive cast of Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman and Anne Hathaway, with newcomer Mia Wasikowska in the title role.
