Tom Hanks has revealed that he was moved to tears when he watched Toy Story 2 for the first time.

The Oscar winning star voiced the character of Woody for the very first time back in 1995, returning for a second movie four years later.

The actor told the Press Association: "I was in tears, and we (with Tim Allen) were looking at each other going, 'That's some powerful stuff' - to be reduced to that and to a level of emotion like that on a cartoon about talking toys and their adventures, it's profound, there's no other word for it."

But this summer Woody, Buzz and co are back as Toy Story 3 hits the big screen, the movie looks set to be one of the most successful movies of 2010.

And while it's been eleven years since last voicing Woody Hanks still can't believe that he is part of these movies.

"It is a profoundly moving and special experience.

Look, we make a lot of things, and we see them for the first time - by and large it kind of works; maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but the three Toy Story movies we've seen, every time I've come out of there I've just slapped my head and said, 'I can't believe I'm a part of this'."

Toy Story 3 will be Hanks' first movie since Angels and Demons but he has been working on TV show The Pacific.
