Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day has toppled Avatar down under after the sci-fi epic has dominated the box office.

It seems love was in the air this valentine's weekend as the ensemble cast romantic comedy also sits at the top of the U.S. chart.

An all-star cast comes together in Valentine's Day, which follows the intertwining storylines of a diverse group of Los Angelenos as they navigate their way through romance and heartbreak over the course of one Valentine's Day.

Couples and singles experience the pinnacles and pitfalls of finding, keeping or ending relationships in a day in the life of love.

Avatar gave up it's iron grip at the top of the box office and has to settle for the number two spot.

Despite poor reviews The Wolfman opened at three and there was a third new entry inside the top four in the form of Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief.

Edge of Darkness dropped three places from two to round off the top five. This week's biggest faller came in the form of Daybreakers which dropped six places from three to nine.

There top ten was rounded off by a fourth new entry as My Name Is Khan enjoyed some box office success.
