Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg was so disturbed by her "insanely sad" role in Tyler Perry's new drama For Colored Girls, she demanded no one on set call her by her character's name.

The Sister Act star plays religious zealot Alice in the film, based on Ntozake Shange's award-winning play, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.

And she admits it was "tough" to leave her character's demons on set when the day was through.

She says, "On the set the ADs (assistant directors) and guys who would tell you what time to come to set would call you by your character's names, and I would say, 'Do not do that, because this woman is crazy like a bedbug.'

"She's not pleasant. She's crazy and scary and insanely sad."
