Gavin Hood has revealed that a sequel to this summer's X-Men Origins: Wolverine will not go into production anytime soon.

Released back in May X-Men Origins: Wolverine was the first spin off from the X-Men franchise and kicked off the blockbuster summer.

Speaking to Sci-Fi Wire the filmmaker said: "I'm hoping to be shooting something next year, and I don't think that Wolverine will be ready for next year."

"I haven't been approached one way or another. The studio is obviously very cautious. They want to see how Wolverine does on DVD.

"Let them develop the script, let's see what the script looks like, let's see how the studio feels about the script, how Hugh feels about it, and then we'll take it from there."

Just weeks ago Hugh Jackman revealed that the new movie would be shot in Japan and will follow Logan training in Eastern fighting skills.

There is rumoured to be a Magneto movie in the pipeline as well as a First Class movie which looks at the young Cyclops, Jean, Beast and Storm.
