Adam Driver can't wait to get to the set of 'Star Wars: Episode VIII' every day and work with director Rian Johnson.

Driver is reprising his role as lightsaber-wielding villain Kylo Ren in the sci-fi sequel and he has been enjoying working with new filmmaker Johnson - who has taken over the franchise from 'The Force Awakens' helmer J.J. Abrams - because he is so "unassuming" and "intelligent".

Comparing Abrams' approach to the space opera to Johnson's, Driver said: "Their temperaments are different. I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one - just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There's a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it's more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it (his own). I can't wait to get on set, just because he's so unassuming and intelligent and approachable."

Driver also teased there will be a lot of battles between the First Order - led by Ren and his master Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) - and The Resistance and insists the script for the film is "great".

He told Entertainment Weekly magazine: "The script they've come up with is really great. They're still at war. It's still 'Star Wars'. They're not at peace."

'Star Wars: Episode VIII' sees John Boyega back playing rebel Stormtrooper Finn, Oscar Isaac as X-wing fighter pilot Poe Dameron, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey and Mark Hamill being integral to the plot as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

The blockbuster sequel is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017.
