Amy Adams wanted her depiction of Lois Lane to be a woman that female audience members could relate to.

The Oscar nominated actress will tackle the big budget blockbuster this summer as she is part of the impressive cast that makes up Man of Steel.

And Adams admits that she was very focused in how she wanted this iconic character to come across on screen.

Speaking to Total Film the actress said: “I wanted her to be a woman that other women could relate to. And not be a sort of pest.

“Lois can be kind of omnipresent, turning up at very inconvenient times - which she does! - but you understand her reasons.”

The movie sees Adams team up with Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon while Zack Snyder is in the director’s chair.

This will be the first big screen outing for Adams since the critical success that she enjoyed last year with The Master - a role that brought her another Oscar nomination - as she takes on a superhero movie for the very first time.

And we are going to be seeing plenty of Adams on the big screen this year as she has also completed work on Lullaby and Her.

The actress is currently working on the latest project by director David O.Russell - a movie that will see her reunite with the filmmaker - as sees her team up with Jennifer Lawrence, Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.

Man of Steel is released 14th June.
