Anthony Mackie says actor Ben Affleck will bring the everyman quality back to the character of Batman.
Mackie and Affleck are going to share the big screen this week as they star in new crime thriller Runner Runner. And Mackie has given his support to his co-star for his new role as the caped crusader.
Speaking to E! News the actor said: "I think [his casting is] great. My favourite Batman was Michael Keaton because he made Batman like an everyday guy we can relate to."
"I feel like the last few [actors playing] Batman have been lost in trepidation that you really can't relate to.
"So I feel like Ben Affleck - what makes him a star is he has that everyman quality. I feel like he is going to bring that back to Batman and make him cool again."
Mackie is the latest person to give Affleck's casting support after the Oscar winner came under fire from online Batman fans.
Superman vs Batman will be hitting the big screen in 2015 and will be the sequel to Man of Steel. Henry Cavill will be back as Superman while Zack Snyder will be in the director's chair.
As for Mackie he will be joining a superhero franchise himself, as we are going to be seeing him play Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Solider.
Runner Runner is released 27th September.
