Many Marvel fans are on the edge of their seats at the moment; delays and bed news are abundant in the film industry today (mainly due to the global pandemic), and audiences can only hope that the coming months see the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) features that are set to release, keep their dates.

The MCU is one of cinema’s most iconic, and most popular franchises. Last year (2021) was a very good year for Marvel, with five original series releasing onto Disney+, such as WandaVision and What If...?, as well as four feature films, including Black Widow and Spider-Man: No Way Home

This year (2022) is also set to be an interesting year for the company, as movies such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and, of course Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are set to release.

Black Panther 2 has been the topic of discussion for many Marvel fans, as many are unsure how to feel about Marvel’s decision not to recast Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa in the MCU before his passing in 2020.

However, the production for Black Panther 2 came to a stop last year, as Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in the MCU, was injured during filming. This caused shooting to be put on hold for a short while until Wright was back on her feet.

Now, a similar situation has occurred. Actress Lupita Nyong’o, who portrays Nakia, shared her positive COVID test on January 4th, 2022, stating that she was fully vaccinated and self-isolating.

However, yesterday (Monday 24th January, 2022), Nyong’o posted a photo via Instagram with a caption claiming that she is “coming back!”. The post also contains an image and a video of the actress in workout gear and seemingly fighting fit, which is great news.

So far, and despite production being shut down twice, there is no official word from Marvel in regard to a delayed release date; this has fans in high spirits, and they remain hopeful that the schedule for the MCU this year remains as it is.

Black Panther 2 will, hopefully, answer many of the questions that fans have in regard to how Marvel has handled the loss of Boseman, and how the MCU will move forward without T’Challa; it is rumoured that Shuri will be the next Black Panther, but it is unclear if this is set in stone...

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will release on November 11th, 2022.
