Anthony Mackie has described Captain America: Civil War the best Marvel movie yet.

Mackie is set to take on the role of Falcon in Civil War, his second Captain America film and his first Marvel film since the success Ant-Man last summer. This is the 2016 film that I am looking forward to the most and Mackie has hinted that it is not going to disappoint.

Speaking to IGN, the actor said: "It'll be very different because…I feel the best Marvel movies thus far have been Winter Soldier and Iron Man. And I think this movie far surpasses those two movies.

I think the Russo brothers and Marvel have done a very good job with upping the ante every movie. And this one definitely does not fail to live up to that."

Civil War is set to kick of Phase Three of Marvel films and will see Anthony and Joe Russo back in the director's chair; their second Captain America film. We last saw them at the helm with The Winter Solider and they will go on direct Avengers: Infinity War.

The movie will see Mackie reunite with Chris Evans - as he reprises the central role of Captain America - while Scarlet Johansson and Sebastian Stan is also returning to the franchise. Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Paul Rudd are also stepping into a Captain America film for the first time.

Captain America: Civil War is the first of two Marvel films to hit the big screen this year and will be followed in the autumn by Doctor Strange.

As for Mackie, he is back on the big screen this week as he stars in Triple 9, which sees him part of an ensemble cast that includes Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Woody Harrelson, and Gal Gadot.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April.
