Chiwetel Ejiofor is set to take on the role of Baron Mordo in the highly anticipated Doctor Strange and he has been pictured on the set.

Filming has got under way on the new Marvel film in Nepal and we have already caught a first glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character.

Ejiofor and Cumberbatch are stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time and they were pictured together in this new set image, which was posted on Twitter:

Ejiofor and Cumberbatch are just two of the terrific names that are on the Doctor Strange cast list, as Rachel McAdams and Tilda Swinton are also on board.

The movie sees Scott Derrickson in the director's chair as Ejiofor team up with the filmmaker for the first time.

Doctor Strange will be the second of two Marvel films to be released in 2016 - the first being Captain America: Civil War - and it will be the first new franchise for Phase Three of Marvel movies.

Ejiofor is already one of the most exciting actors around with roles in 12 Years A Slave, The Martian, and Z for Zachariah in recent years, but Doctor Strange will the film that sends his star rocketing even further.

The movie sees Ejiofor reunite with Cumberbatch, after the pair worked together on the Oscar winning 12 Years A Slave; Ejiofor went on to pick up a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his work.

Before we see Ejiofor in Doctor Strange, he will be back on the big screen in the new year with Triple 9 and Secret In Their Eyes.

Doctor Strange is released 28th October 2016.
