Chiwetel Ejiofor has been linked to a role in Doctor Strange since the beginning of the year but now it has been reported that he will play Baron Mordo.

Deadline have sent word that he is on board to play the villainous character opposite fellow Brit Benedict Cumberbatch - who will take on the title role.

This will be the second time that Ejiofor and Cumberbatch have worked together after starring alongside one another in the critically acclaimed 12 Years A Slave - I personally cannot wait to see them working together once again.

Strange and Mordo have always been depicted as enemies in the comics but were both pupils of the Ancient One - it has been reported that we may see Tilda Swinton take on this role in the film.

Scott Derrickson is in the director's chair for Doctor Strange - this will be his first Marvel movie at the helm - and film is set to get underway this autumn.

Doctor Strange is one of the new franchises that will be launched over the next few years and it will be exciting to see if either of these two great characters appear in any other movies along the way.

As for Ejiofor, he enjoyed more critical acclaim at the beginning of the year when his latest film Z for Zachariah premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie sees him star alongside Chris Pine and Margot Robbie and was met with acclaim.

He has also completed work on The Martian - the latest film from director Ridley Scott - and Secret in Their Eyes.

Doctor Strange is released 28th October 2016 and will be the second of two Marvel films to hit the big screen next year - the first being Captain America: Civil War.
