Dane DeHaan says he is ‘terrified’ at the prospect of playing James Dean.

DeHaan has landed the role of the screen icon in Life; a movie that he is filming at the moment. Directed by Anton Corbijn, the movie chronicles the friendship between Dean and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock.

And while DeHaan admits that he is apprehensive about the role, he is wants to be challenged as an actor in order to grow.

Speaking to Total Film, DeHaan said: I’m terrified, for sure! That’s what’s exciting about acting to me, giving yourself a challenge that seems kind of impossible and seeing if you can pull it off.

“I love acting and I just want to get better at it, and the best way to get better is finding the most challenging material out there.”

Life will see Robert Pattinson take on the role of Dennis Stock, while Ben Kingsley is also on board the film.

Anton Corbijn is no stranger to the biopic genre as a filmmaker, having delivered the fantastic Control. A Most Wanted Man will be the next film for the director to hit the big screen.

As for DeHaan, the biggest role of his acting career to date is on the horizon as he is taking over the role of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider Man 2.

Life will be released in 2015.
