Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has stormed to the top of the UK box office, ending the reign of Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes from 2011, and has been one of the most anticipated films of the year.

And it has not disappointed as it has been met with critical acclaim and is performing well globally. The movie took over £8.7 million in the UK this weekend to secure the #1 spot comfortably.

There was no change at two as How To Train Your Dragon 2 was the only none-mover inside the top ten this week.

Transformers: Age of Extinction was down two this week at three - however, it is the most successful film of the year so far at the global box office.

Monty Python Live (Mostly) and Andre Rieu's 2014 Maastricht Concert rounded off the top five.

Former #1 Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie fell three places this week to six, while Pudsey the Dog: The Movie was the fourth and final new entry inside the top ten this week.

Boyhood was down one at eight, while The Fault In Our Stars was down five from four to nine: this week's biggest faller.

22 Jump Street was a four place faller as it rounded off the top ten.
