Doctor Strange's cinematographer Ben Davis says that the film is going to be Marvel's Fantasia.

Davis has already worked on movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron and is set to work on the highly anticipated Doctor Strange.

And while he couldn't give too much away about how the movie will look, he did hint that it will be like nothing else that they have done before.

Speaking at a BAFTA Masterclass in London and reported by ScreenDaily, Davis said: "It has a very psychedelic grounding, and it's not your typical Marvel action movie... Most of the work within it is about other dimensions.

"And I described it, I think, when I was talking to Marvel as Marvel's Fantasia, in a way, because it's so sort of out there and different to everything else that they've done.

"There's a lot of previsualisation, and there's a lot of work which is very hard - you look at it and you see the imagery that they've created for it and you think, 'Well how the hell do we shoot that!?' because it's all sort of Escher stuff."

Doctor Strange is set to be one of the new franchises to be introduced over the next couple of years and sees Scott Derrickson back in the director's chair as he helms his first Marvel film.

Derrickson is best known for his horror movies with the likes of The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister already under his belt. Doctor Strange is set to be the biggest film of his career to date.

Benedict Cumberbatch will take on the title role, while Chiwetel Ejiofor and Oscar winner Tilda Swinton are also on board. Filming is set to get under way this autumn but we do have over a year to go until the film hits the big screen.

Doctor Strange will be the second of two Marvel films to be released next year and will follow Captain America: Civil War - both are expected to be big hits for the studio.

Doctor Strange is released 28th October 2016 in the UK and November 4th 2016 in the U.S.
