It has been four years since the last instalment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, a prequel series to the Harry Potter films, detailing the life and adventure of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne).

Yesterday (February 28th, 2022) saw the unveiling of the trailer for the third film in the Fantastic Beasts series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

2018 played host to the release of second movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which saw the film’s villain, Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), seek to raise an army of wizards who he would use to rule over non-magical beings.

As this franchise continues, there is of course one very noticeable change in regard to casting; Depp was replaced with Mads Mikkelsen due to unfortunate allegations within the public eye.

The Secrets of Dumbledore sees Jude Law return as the titular wizard, who knows that Grindelwald is still trying to assert his power and rule over the wizarding world.

However, as powerful and wise many know Dumbledore to be, he cannot stop Grindelwald alone, so he seeks the aid of Magizoologist Newt, to lead a group of brave wizards and witches, and Muggle Jacob (Dan Fogler) to rise up.

The cast will come across both old and new awe-inspiring creatures, and clash with the villain’s ever-growing army of followers.

But, with the stakes being so high and danger mounting, can Dumbledore stay on the sidelines forever?

The trailer suggests that absolute chaos is right around the corner, with wherever Grindelwald goes. Dumbledore has secrets that seem to be able to save the lives of many, but whether or not he chooses to reveal them is a mystery...

Joining Law, Redmayne and Mikkelsen, is Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, William Nadylam, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, Victoria Yeates, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Fiona Glascott, Katherine Waterston, Maria Fernanda Cândido and Richard Coyle, with Oliver Masucci and Valerie Pachner.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will hit UK cinemas on April 8th, 2022.
