Frozen

Frozen has toppled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire from the top of the U.S. box office as it continues to win over critics and audiences.

Frozen is the fifty-third Disney movie to hit the big screen and is inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson tale The Snow Queen.

The film opened at number two last week, but has enjoyed another great weekend - enough to end the reign of Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire slipped just a single place as it took a further $27 million.

Out of the Furnace was the highest new entry on the chart this week as it opened at number three.

The movie sees Christian Bale return to the big screen as he teams up with Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana.

Thor: The Dark World slipped a single place to four, while Delivery Man was up one this week at five; the comedy was the only movie to move up in the top ten this week.

Homefront dropped just a single place from five to six, while there was no move for The Book Thief at seven.

Comedy The Best Man Holiday was the biggest faller this week as it dropped four places from four to eight. There was no move for Philomena at nine.

Dallas Buyers Club rounded off the top ten as the second and final new entry.
