Gary Oldman has revealed that he has been contacted about Star Wars: Episode VII.

Filming is set to get underway on Star Wars: Episode VII later this year, but a cast list has yet to be announced.

However, Oldman has revealed that he has the call from movie bosses about possibly starring in the film.

Speaking to Sky Movies, the actor said: "They've called.

"You know, I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired."

Oldman is no stranger to the blockbuster genre with Harry Potter and Batman under his belt. So could we be seeing Oldman in the new Star Wars film?

He is just the latest name to be linked to the film, as the likes of Michael Fassbender, Hugo Weaving anf Zac Efron have all been mentioned in recent weeks.

As for Oldman, he is back on the big screen this week in the remake of RoboCop, a movie that sees him work with director Jose Padilha.

He will also return to the blockbuster genre later this year, as he is one of the new faces on the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes cast list.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be released 18th December 2015.
