Gone Girl

Gone Girl

Gillian Flynn has revealed that a Gone Girl sequel could well be a possibility.

Gone Girl hit the big screen back in the autumn of 2014 to critical acclaim and was based on Flynn’s novel of the same name. This was the first of Flynn’s novels to be adapted for the big screen and it was the author herself who adapted the book into a screenplay.

The movie has enjoyed huge success since then and now Flynn is suggesting that a sequel could be a possibility. However, she says that she would want Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and director David Fincher to return to the project.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Flynn said: "There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now.

"We could pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on -- not well I don't think.

"I would have to have the exact same people to do it - I would want Rosamund Rosamund, Ben Affleck and [director] David Fincher to do it."

Affleck and Pike took on the central roles of Nick and Amy Dunne in the film, and Pike has gone on to pick up Best Actress Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Bafta nominations for her performance. She could also find herself in the Oscar mix when the nominations are revealed later this week. Pike lost out to Julianne Moore at the Golden Globes this weekend, while David Fincher also missed out on Best Director to Richard Linklater for Boyhood.

Flynn herself was also nominated at the Golden Globes for Best Screenplay for her adaptation but missed out as Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu won for Birdman.

We are also going to be seeing a second Flynn novel hit the big screen later this year in the form of Dark Places. Gilles Paquet Brenner has directed the movie and adapted the novel, while Charlize Theron and Chloe Grace Moretz are set to star.
