It was announced earlier this month that the film was going ahead and looks set to be released in 2019. The movie will see Steven Spielberg back in the director's chair while Ford will be reprising the iconic role as Indiana Jones.

It will be the first time that we have seen Ford take on this role since the box office success of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull back in 2008.

And the actor admits that he is looking forward to reprising this character and working with Spielberg once again.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the actor said: "The opportunity to work with Steven again, and the chance to revisit this character which has brought pleasure to so many people - not to mention me.

"It's great fun to play this character, it's great fun to work with Steven. I'm looking forward to it."

David Koepp is also aboard the fifth Indiana Jones film as he will pen the screenplay. Koepp is a long-term collaborator of Spielberg's and penned the screenplays for Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Ford's return to this roles comes after he reprised the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens last year. The movie saw him team up with director J.J. Abrams and it went on to gross over $2 billion at the global box office - not to mention win over critics and audiences around the world.

There is no word on when filming on Indiana Jones 5 will get under way but we are going to have to wait until 2019 to see it. Ford is the only actor to have officially been announced on the cast list.
