Javier Bardem is set to take on the role of Captain Blackbeard in Peter Pan.
Bardem is believed to be in talks to star in the new take on the popular tale - a film that would see the Oscar winner work with director Joe Wright.
Wright is in the director's chair for the film, which is based on the J.M. Barrie created character.
It was announced last week that Wright was on board to direct the project - which would be an origins story.
Greg Berlanti is on board to produce the movie, while Jason Fuchs has penned the script.
The movie is set to follow an orphan boy who goes into battle against evil pirates in a bid to save Peter's home island, Neverland.
Bardem can currently be seen in Ridley Scott's latest film The Counsellor.
Bardem is filming new project The Gunman at the moment with Idris Elba and Sean Pen.
Meanwhile, 'Magic Mike' actor-and-producer Channing Tatum is developing a rival Peter Pan project, 'Pan' with Joe Roth for Columbia Pictures.
