Jean Dujardin has revealed that he is 'proud' of his Oscar nomination.

Dujardin has picked up a Best Actor nod for his role in black and white movie The Artist and, along with George Clooney, he is the favourite to walk away with the gong.

Speaking to USA Today the actor said: "[I feel] proud, shocked, daunted and lucky.

"It's proof that you have to listen to yourself and trust the movie and to never try to make a success and make unique and singular personal movies."

And Dujardin's Oscar hopes picked up pace last night after he won the Screen Actors Guild Awards, this comes hot off the heels of the Golden Globe he won a couple of weeks ago.

The Artist is nomination for ten Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius and Best Supporting Actress for Berenice Bejo.

Dujardin split the Golden Globe gongs with rival Clooney; The Artist star winning Best Actor for Musical or Comedy while Clooney won Best Actor for Drama.

The pair will go head to head on February 26th.
