Jeff Goldblum says that he has discussed the possibility of returning for Independence Day 2.

Goldblum took on the role of David Levinson in the 19996 movie, and we could be seeing him return in the sequel.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, the actor said: "Oh, good, so [Roland's] talked about it.

"Yeah, they’ve talked to me about it and I’ve talked to them about it and they’re excited and I’m anxious and eager to see - I haven’t read anything - what they cook up. You know, I think they’re trying to put it together."

There has been a lot of talk about the Independence Day sequel over the last twelve months or so.

Roland Emmerich is back in the director's chair for the film, but a cast list is yet to be announced.

Will Smith will not be returning to his role of Captain Steven Hiller in the new film.

As for Goldblum, he will be back on the big screen next week in The Grand Budapest Hotel: a movie that sees him team up with director Wes Anderson.

He has also completed work on Mortdecai, which also stars Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor.
