Joel Edgerton is the latest actor to join the cast list Black Mass.
Edgerton is set to take on the role of FBI Agent John Connolly in the Scott Cooper directed film.
This is the first film for Cooper since Out of the Furnace, as he brings the story of Whitey Bulger to the big screen.
Depp is set to take on the role of Bulger, in a movie that charts his rise to power, with the help of Connolly.
Edgerton has been linked to the film when the project was first in the pipeline, before walking away.
It was suggested last week that Tom Hardy was in the mix for the role of Connolly, but now Deadline have reported that Edgerton is back on board.
Filming is set to get underway in Boston later this year.
Edgerton has already completed work on Jane Got A Gun and Exodus, and is currently filming Midnight Special.
Black Mass is set for a 2015 release.
