Joel Edgerton is believed to be in talks to star in the big screen adaptation of Shantaram.
Gregory David Roberts' is one of the best books that I have ever written and follows the central character as he escapes from an Australian jail, before finding his way to India.
Edgerton is believed to be in talks for the central character, while Johnny Depp is on board with Christi Dembrowski as producers.
Shantaram is a project that has been in the pipeline for some time; in fact a couple of years ago Depp himself was being lined up as the possible lead actor for the film.
But Deadline have revealed that Edgerton is now in talks to play Lin in the film.
There is currently no director attached to the project, but Eric Roth - he wrote the Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Munich - has penned the screenplay.
