Kevin Feige has quashed the rumours that are circulating about Doctor Strange.

Earlier this week it looked like the Doctor Stranger project was picking up pace, as it was believed that Marvel were looking at a select number of directors for the film.

ark Andrews, Nikolaj Arcel, Dean Israelite and Jonathan Levine were believed to be the frontrunners. However, Feige says that this is not the case.

Speaking IGN, Feige said: "Well, that article was true that we're meeting a lot of people now.

"That article was not true about who we're meeting or what level anybody is. But we're actively looking."

There is also a rumour floating around that Johnny Depp could be being lined up to take on the lead role Stephen Strange. This is something else that Feige has denied.

"No, no. When you have a project that's been around as long as Doctor Strange, there is sometimes, 'Oh, I've met with Stan [Lee] about this', or, 'I did that'.

"So Strange is one of those projects that predates me by a long shot. Obviously the character does, but even in its cinematic brewing. So there's a lot of things that have happened before me, and I've been here 14 years."

Phase 2 of Marvel films will be brought to a close next year with Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Phase 3 will be kicked off with Ant-Man, but no other films have officially been announced.
