Selma is set to hit the big screen at the beginning of February and explore an important part in recent American history.

Selma is a movie that tells the story of Marin Luther King and his campaign to secure equal voting rights in the U.S. His fight - which resulted in the march from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 - changed American forever.

Ava DuVernay is in the director's chair for the film, while British actor David Oyelowo takes on the role of Martin Luther King, in what is one of the biggest movies roles of his career to date.

We still have a couple of weeks before the release of the film, but we have a couple of great new clips for you to take a look at:

An all-star cast has been assembled for Selma as Oyelowo is joined by Carmen Ejogo, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Roth, and Giovanni Ribisi.

Selma tracks a dangerous and terrifying three month campaign led by Martin Luther King Jr. which culminated in the epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.

The campaign galvanized American public opinion and persuaded President Johnson to introduce the Voting Rights Act, protecting Africa-Americans' right to vote.

Selma picked up two Oscar nominations earlier this week for Best Original Song and Best Motion Picture.

Selma is released 6th February.
