The 32-year-old actress has been confirmed as the new cast member of the upcoming science-fiction thriller, which is a movie adaptation of author Alexandra Bracken's book series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie will follow a sudden pandemic, which kills the majority of America's teenagers and children, whilst those who survive the fatal epidemic develop superpowers and are sent to internment camps to be detained.

'Kung Fu Panda 2' filmmaker Jennifer Yuh Nelson, 44, is set to direct the production, whilst Shawn Levy will produce the movie under his 21 Laps company, alongside Dan Levine and Dan Cohen.

And writer Chad Hodge is on board to pen the script for the upcoming project based on the 2012 novel.

The brunette beauty will join Amandla Stenberg - who is known for playing the role of Rue in 'The Hunger Games' alongside Jennifer Lawrence - in the movie.

The 18-year-old star is set to take on the lead role in 'Darkest Minds' as she has been cast as 16-year-old Ruby Daly, who is one of the adolescents who develops telekinetic powers but decides to break out of the imprisonment with other teenagers in a bid to escape the government's clutches.

The 'Southpaw' actor Skylan Brooks, 18, Harris Dickinson and 10-year-old Miya Cech are also set to star in the movie.

The 'A Walk To Remember' star and her fellow cast members are set to begin shooting scenes for 'Darkest Minds' this month in Atlanta.

However, a release date has yet to be confirmed.
