This week’s movie news roundup has a brilliant assortment of stories, from I Am Legend 2 officially being in development, to new trailers as well as updates on Free Guy 2! Read about all this, and more, below!

New Alien movie in development

A new Alien 5 feature is currently in development at 20th Century Studios, with Ridley Scott in the producer's seat.

The Alien franchise has been loved by the masses for decades; Scott directed the first ever Alien feature in 1979, which led to a hugely successful franchise.

Alien 5 is said to not be a part of the franchise’s main continuity, and will feature brand new characters. The movie will debut on Hulu, and won’t be connected to any of the other films.

I Am Legend 2 is officially on its way

Warner Bros. are currently developing a sequel to 2007 movie I Am Legend, which will star Will Smith as Robert Neville once again, and introduce Michael B. Jordan to the franchise.

While the movie has no director or release date, it does have a writer; Akiva Goldsman is currently working on the script for the sequel.

I Am Legend ended with Neville’s demise in a very meaningful death scene, however Smith’s return suggests that this ending will be retconned. However, the actor’s return could be in the form of flashbacks, perhaps.

Marvel casts Kraven the Hunter villain

Upcoming Marvel movie, Kraven the Hunter, has revealed who will be playing its villain; Alessandro Nivola (Jurassic Park III).

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), will be playing the film’s hero, Kraven, which has caused fans to speculate what this means as this will be his second time playing a Marvel character.

While it is unclear who Nivola will be playing for sure, Deadline has reported that he will play the film’s antagonist; only time will tell...

The Crow remake moves forward with production

Ed Pressman reveals that, after the cancellation of the Jason Momoa-led film, that the remake of The Crow is moving on with a brand new cast and crew.

The Crow (1994) is a movie with a very unfortunate backstory: the accidental death of Brandon Lee, who played Eric Draven, aka The Crow.

At the moment, it seems that the film is simply in discussion, but the choice to move ahead with a new cast and crew, who will hopefully be revealed soon, marks an area of progress.

M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie reveals cast members

Knock at the Cabin, M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming feature, has recently cast Ben Aldridge and Jonathan Groff as the newest members of the movie.

Aldridge, who starred in TV’s Pennyworth, and Groff, who featured in The Matrix: Resurrections, will star alongside other cast members that include Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint and Nikki Amuka-Bird.

While there are next to no details regarding plot at the moment, there will hopefully be more information released within the coming months.

Trailer for The Bubble has landed

Netflix has revealed the official trailer for The Bubble, after their teaser trailer for fake movie, Cliff Beasts 6

The forthcoming feature was filmed in the UK in the spring of 2021, and sees a film crew shooting in a COVID-19 bubble at the start of the pandemic.

The Bubble has an impressive cast, such as Karen Gillan, Pedro Pascal, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Mann, and more.

Updates offered on Free Guy 2

President of 20th Century Studios, Steve Asbell, has recently revealed that the script for Free Guy 2 is only days away from being finished, and is a brilliant story for the sequel.

Free Guy (2021) was a massive success, as the Ryan Reynolds-led movie was filled with perfect comedy, clever gaming jokes, and a wonderful narrative.

Shawn Levy directed the first film, and it seems he, along with Reynolds, will return, which is great news as the pair created a genuinely fantastic movie with Free Guy, so let's hope the sequel lives up to expectations.
