Portman was introduced as Jane Foster for the first time back in 2011 in Thor, a role that she reprised two years later in Thor: The Dark World.

However, Jane Foster is not a character that we will be seeing in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, which is filming in Australia right now.

And while Portman says being part of the MCU was a 'great experience' she will not be returning any time soon.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, she said: "As far as I know, I'm done. I don't know if, maybe one day, they'll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever. I have no idea! But as far as I know I'm done. But it was a great thing to be a part of."

Thor: Ragnarok will be the third film in the solo Thor series and will see Chris Hemsworth reprise the title role. He will be the first time he has played Thor since Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins are also back while Mark Ruffalo, Karl Urban, Cate Blanchett, and Jeff Goldblum are some of the big new additions to the cast list.

It is also all-change in the director's chair as Taika Waititi follows in the footsteps of Kenneth Branagh and Alan Taylor.

Thor: Ragnarok will be the third of three Marvel films to be released next year, following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming into cinemas.

As for Portman, she is set to take on the role of Jackie Kennedy in new biopic Jackie, which is set in the immediate aftermath of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963, The movie sees Portman team up with filmmaker Pablo Larraín.

The Oscar-winning actress has also completed work on Planetarium, Annihilation, Weightless, and The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards.

Portman is currently filming The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, which sees her star alongside Jessica Chastain, Susan Sarandon, and Kit Harrington.

Thor: Ragnarok is released 27th October 2017.
