Graham, a BAFTA nominee who has starred in films such as The Irishman (2019), Public Enemies (2009), and series such as Boardwalk Empire, will be taking on the lead role in this feature film all about the pressure of both the professional kitchen and his personal life.

Boiling Point will be directed by Philip Barantini, and has worked with writer James Cummings to adapt the movie from a short of the same name. The film will be produced by Bart Ruspoli and Hestor Ruoff.

The film takes place on what is called ‘Magic Friday’, the final Friday before Christmas; it’s the busiest night of the year.

Andy Jones (Graham) is head chef at one of London’s most popular and distinguished restaurants in London; but his personal life is anything but peachy.

He is fighting with overwhelming debt and a hard-to-kick addiction, but seems to find solace and calm in his work. However, the pressure increases when health and safety services turn up out of the blue for an inspection.

Boiling Point was shot in a single take; both in the kitchen and out of it reach a new level of stress for Jones.

This project was a one-shot production, with the expected filming schedule cut down to only two days in order to finish filming before lockdown took full effect (in 2020). The film wrapped shooting only five short days before the unfortunate coronavirus pandemic forced the government to shut down the film industry.

That fact means that this movie was the last one to be on set in March of 2020. Almost all of the post production was done remotely during the first lockdown.

The project is holding its world premiere today (August 23rd, 2021) at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Boiling Point marks the debut feature film of Matriarch Productions, an entertainment production company founded by both Graham and Hannah Walters. Boasting diversity and inclusivity, the company was established in 2020 with the aim of providing a much-needed plat-form for underrepresented voices and stories across both film in television in the UK.

Boiling Point will hit UK and Irish cinemas on November 19th, 2021.
