Emotional and dramatic films are pretty much always in demand. Whether you’re looking for a rom-com or a journey of self-discovery and faith, emotional movies will always be welcomed by audiences, so A Journal for Jordan will most likely be a hit with viewers.

Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) leads the cast of A Journal for Jordan, an emotional true story about a father who seeks to create a legacy for his young son.

Directed by Denzel Washington, this upcoming feature is based on the real-life story of First Sergeant Charle Monroe King (Jordan), a soldier who’s deployed to Iraq; there, he begins to keep a journal filled with love and advice for his infant son.

Back at home, New York Times editor Dana Canedy (Chanté Adams) looks back on the tale of her unlikely, life-changing relationship with King, and his everlasting devotion and adoration to her and their beautiful child.

A Journal for Jordan is a brave account of a powerful love, and is set to be a reminder of just how important family really is.

Films such as this one seem to be increasing lately, with other emotional films such as Swan Song set to release soon, cinema is opening its doors to deep emotions such as love, grief, loss, desperation and joy; all these things make for an incredible and meaningful story, which A Journal for Jordan definitely seems to be.

Love in the face of war will always be a difficult topic to put into a movie, especially when it is based on a true story. The idea of your loved one leaving home and never coming back cannot be easy, and the trailer for this feature showcases the love, acceptance, as well as the anger and grief of being married to someone in the army.

The trailer’s slow, dramatic use of Fix You by Coldplay definitely creates a somewhat desperate atmosphere, as King and his wife go through stages of love and laughter, then anger and loneliness.

A Journal for Jordan will be in cinemas on January 21st, 2022.
