Filming is well underway on Star Wars: Episode VIII and will see Isaac reprise the role of Poe Dameron alongside Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

And while the plot is being kept under wraps, Isaac has dropped a little hint as to what fans can expect this time around.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the actor said: "In the new film, there's a lot more to do. What happens now is the heroes get tested.

"All three of them [Dameron, Daisy Ridley's Rey and John Boyega's Finn] get tested immensely... BB-8 gets tested too! Everybody gets tested! It's the dark second chapter, but not really dark."

It is all change in the director's chair for Episode VIII as Rian Johnson takes over from J.J. Abrams for the first time. As well as being in the director's chair, Johnson has also penned the film's screenplay.

This will be the fourth feature film of Johnson's career and his first since the success of Looper back in 2012.

As well as Isaac, Ridley, and Boyega on the cast list, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, and Mark Hamill are some of the other names returning.

However, we have a long wait for Episode VIII to hit the big screen as it is not scheduled until the end of 2017. However, we will see Rogue One: A Star Wars story released later this year.

As for Isaac, he is back on the big screen this week as one of the big new additions to the cast list of X-Men: Apocalypse. He will take on the role of Apocalypse as he teams up with filmmaker Bryan Singer for the first time.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is released 15th December 2017.
