Paper Towns has opened at the top of the UK box office on its first weekend on release.

Paper Towns is the second of John Green's novels to be adapted for the big screen and comes a year after the success of The Fault In Our Stars. The movie stars Natt Wolff and Cara Delevingne in the biggest lead roles of their acting careers to date.

The movie took just over £2 million this weekend to topple Pixels from the top spot and hold off the challenge from animation movie Inside Out.

There was no move for Inside Out this week as the popular Pixar movie stayed at number two.So far, the movie has grossed over £28 million in the UK alone.

Sinister 2 was the second highest new entry inside the top ten this week as the horror sequel opened at number two. The film comes three years after the success of the first and sees Ciaran Foy take over the director's chair from Scott Derrickson.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation was down a single place this week as it slipped from three to number four. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was also down one as the Guy Ritchie directed film rounded off the top five.

Pixels was this week's biggest faller as the Adam Sandler movie dropped from one to number six. The movie has struggled with the critics but did top the UK box office last week.

Vacation and Bad Education Movie were the final new entries on the chart this week as the comedy movies opened at seven and eight.

Trainwreck fell four spots this week from five to nine, while Minions was a two place faller at number ten.
