Peter Jackson says he will be returning to Tintin as soon as he has wrapped up work on The Hobbit trilogy.

Jackson teamed up with Steven Spielberg back in 2011 for The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn: Jackson produced while Spielberg directed.

Second time around it will be Jackson in the director's chair. However, he admits that the project has been delayed due to his commitments to The Hobbit.

Speaking to BadTaste.it the director said: "As soon as I'm free of The Hobbit, I'll be going back into doing Tintin," he told BadTaste.it.

"It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it's just waiting on me to be done with these Hobbit movies."

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will hit big screens tomorrow, and is the second part of the highly anticipated sequel.

The third and final instalment There And Back Again will be released this time next year.

An Unexpected Journey was a huge hit when it was released at the end of 2012, as it went on to gross in excess of $1 billion at the global box office.
