Filming on Deadpool is well underway in Vancouver and this is already one of the most anticipated comic book movies of 2016.

We first saw Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009 and Reynolds says that he would love for Jackman to reprise his iconic role for the new movie.

Speaking to news.com.au, the actor said: "God I hope so, that would be really nice.

"I dunno, we'll see. It seems like he's open to it, but it's gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else."

Jackman is the only actor to have appeared in all of the X-Men movies since X-Men back in 2000 and it would be great to see that tradition continue with an appearance in Deadpool.

Reynolds is set to reprise the title role in the film, while Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein are just some of the other names on board the cast list.

Tim Miller is set to make the leap into feature films for the first time with Deadpool, while Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also on board having penned the screenplay.

Jackman has revealed that he is set to walk away from the role of Wolverine after the release of the third and final solo film for the popular character - which is set for 2017. Whether we will see him turn up in X-Men: Apocalypse also remains to be seen.

Deadpool is released 12th February 2016.
