Sam Raimi says he loves working with actor James Franco and the pair has a 'deep level of communication.'
Oz The Great And Powerful sees the director reunite with the Oscar nominated actor for the first time since they worked on Spider Man.
The film is a prequel to the much loved Wizard of Oz and tells a very different tale than what we are use to.
Speaking to the Press Association the director said: "I love working with James.
"Actors need really good communication with their stars and after working with James on three of the Spider-Man movies, I got to know him really well and we got to trust each other, so we had a very deep level of communication and a shorthand going into this picture, which really aided the acting and directing, I think."
Oz The Great And Powerful is the first film for Raimi since Drag Me To Hell back in 2009 and he has brought together a terrific cast.
Franco is joined by a trio of fantastic actresses as Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams all play witches in the film.
Oz The Great and Powerful is released 8th March.
