Skyfall

Skyfall

The idea to explore Bond's past in Skyfall came very late in the script writing process according to screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Purvis and Wade reunited to pen the script for Skyfall and the inclusion of Bond' childhood home in the final act was a very late decision.

Speaking to Digital Spy Wade said: "That idea [to go to Skyfall lodge] came very late in the day. It was in the last two weeks when we were working on the script.

"The third act had been action stuff in a European city and we weren't very happy with it and we just felt it was ordinary.

"This idea came, and we wrote it up as a page and a half, ran it by Sam, Barbara and Michael and said we just want to tear up the third act and do a completely new thing.

"They said 'great'! They've always wanted to explore those areas."

Skyfall has been a huge critical and commercial triumph as it is the first Bond film to break the $1 billion barrier at the global box office.

The film saw Daniel Craig return to the role of 007 for the third time as we saw a darker and more vulnerable character than ever before.

Skyfall is out now on DVD & Blu-Ray.
