According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trio are all battling it out to play the iconic sci-fi character, who will appear as the central figure in a new feature length film.

British hunk Taron can be seen next on the big screen as titular Olympic skier in 'Eddie the Eagle' and his other most memorable role was as a teenage tearaway-turned-super spy in Matthew Vaughn's 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' - a part he is reprising in a sequel.

Jack, 24, has had notable parts in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and 'Macbeth', while 26-year-old Alden has just appeared alongside George Clooney and Channing Tatum in 'Hail, Caesar!'.

Disney were previously believed to be eyeing up Nicholas Hoult to play a young Han - played in four films by Harrison Ford - but it seems he's now out of the running to play the pilot of the Millennium Falcon spacecraft.

The movie will focus on Han and his alien friend, Wookie Chewbacca, and reveal the story of how they met and became intergalactic smugglers.
