Taylor Swift won't be going for any lead acting roles anytime soon.

Taylor has just returned from South Africa where she shot the movie 'The Giver', alongside Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes and Alexander Skarsgård, in the film adaptation of Lois Lowry's young adult novel.

She plays Jeff's daughter Rosemary and Taylor said she's thankful she only has a small role.

She told Extra TV: "I was only there [South Africa] for a week, shooting this movie The Giver, I learnt so much, Jeff Bridges is a master, learning from someone like that on set was amazing.

"I was like 'how did I get here?'. The role is a character called Rosemary and it's the ideal situation for me, incredible script, small role.

"I want to do the right thing, I'm not just going 'man, you know what I need right now, a staring role'.

"It would have to all line up, a lot of stars aligning for it to happen, because I live to write songs."

She's also working on her fifth album, the follow up to the award-winning Red.

The 22-year-old said: "The way it's coming together is really exciting, it's very different."
