Terry Gilliam

Terry Gilliam will begin shooting his new film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote later this year.

Gilliam will helm the big screen adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes' novel, and filming will begin in the Canary island from September 29th, according to Empire.com.

This is a project that Gilliam has been trying to bring to the big screen for some time, and the script has been rewritten many times.

Gilliam said: "I'm hoping it's the lucky 11. We keep rewriting the script each time, too, so it's a slightly different film each time. It's the same film but the details change."

Gilliam has penned the screenplay with Tony Grisoni, while Jeremy Thomas is on board to produce.

But before we see The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, Gilliam's The Zero Theorem will be hitting the big screen.

The Zero Theorem sees the director team up with double Oscar winner Christoph Waltz.

Mélanie Thierry, David Thewlis, Matt Damon and Ben Whishaw are also on board.

The Zero Theorem is the first film for Gilliam since The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus back in 2009.
