Romania plays host to a tragic scene in upcoming movie The Nun from the Conjuring universe, when a young nun at a cloistered abbey decides to take her own life. When a priest with his own haunted past is sent by the Vatican to investigate, alongside a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows, the pair discover the unholy secret being kept under wraps by the order.

Risking their faith, souls, and their lives, the duo confront the malevolent force of the demonic nun that first terrorised audiences during The Conjuring 2. Her transformation, from the living to the dead, can be seen in the creepy new poster released this week below:

Oscar-nominated actor Demian Bichir stars as Father Burke in The Nun, alongside Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, and Jonas Bloquet as local villager Frenchie. Charlotte Hope takes on the role of the abbey’s Sister Victoria, with Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons as the titular villainous character.

James Wan and Gary Dauberman worked on the story for the film, before the latter turned it into a screenplay, directed from by Corin Hardy. Dauberman also joins Richard Brener, Walter Hamada, Dave Neustadter, Michael Clear and Todd Williams as executive producers.

The Nun comes to cinemas across the UK on September 7, 2018.
