This week, Picturehouse Entertainment dropped the fantastic new trailer for The Wife, along with a gorgeous poster, starring the brilliant Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce, and set to come to cinemas across the UK and Ireland this September. Check out the teaser below:

Based on the best-selling book of the same name by Meg Wolitzer, The Wife is directed by Björn Runge and follows the story of Joan Castleman (Close); a woman who’s spent the past four decades giving up her own dreams and ambitions to support her husband Joe (Pryce) and his literary career. Though he seems like the perfect man in the world of art, he’s not been the perfect husband.

Joan has not only given up her own passions, but has tolerated infidelities and consistent excuses from the man who is supposed to love and protect her, using humour to make it through the years. After a lifetime of uneven compromises however, Joan and Joe have reached a point in their marriage where some long-buried secrets will come to the surface, all with the backdrop of Joe receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature. Things could get very explosive, very quickly.

The A-list cast of The Wife also includes Max Irons, Annie Starke, Harry Lloyd, Elizabeth McGovern and Christian Slater.

The Wife comes to cinemas in the UK and Ireland from September 28, 2018, following a premiere at Film4 Summer Screen, Somerset House on August 9, 2018.
