The Wind Rises

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt are set to lead the English speaking cast of The Wind Rises.

The Wind Rises is set for release next year and is the final film from master director Hayao Miyazaki.

Miyazaki has brought us the likes of Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro over the years, and he will write and direct this final film.

The movie will follow the story of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed the Japanese fighter planes during World War II.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will voice the character of Horikoshi, while Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Martin Short, Stanley Tucci, Werner Herzog and Elijah Wood are all also on board.

The Wind Rises has already been released in Japan and has played at some festivals during the year.

The movie will compete in the Best Animated Feature category at the Annie Awards, alongside the likes of Frozen and Monsters University.

It has also scooped Best Animated Feature prizes at the likes of Online Film Critics Society, National Board of Review and New York Film Critics Circle.
