The Wolverine

The Wolverine

The Wolverine is one of the movies not to miss this summer as Hugh Jackman returns to the role that made him a star.

The Wolverine is the second stand alone film for this character and the first since X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009.

This time around we see Jackman reunite with director James Mangold for the first time since they worked together on Kate and Leopold.

This is the first directorial outing for Mangold since he Knight and Day and this is the first time that he has helmed a comic book blockbuster movie.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern day Japan.

Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.

Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

And it won't be too long before we are seeing Jackman play this role once again as he is set to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past - which will see him reunite with director Bryan Singer.

It has already been a successful year for the actor as he has picked up a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.

The Wolverine is released 26th July.
