Toby Kebbell has revealed that he lied about going to the dentist so he could attend an audition from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Kebbell will back on the big screen this summer having landed the role of Koba in the upcoming blockbuster.

The British actor was working on another acting job at the time, and lied about going to the dentist.

Speaking to Collider, Kebbell said: "I was a massive fan of the first one. I was working in London, and I got an audition for it so I had to pretend I had an dentist appointment to come to the audition cos I was playing a lead on a three part drama.

"So I pretend I had a dentist appointment and I met Andy, I was very nervous, because he's awesome."

"And we went to his place in London called Imaginarium, where we did a screen test. A kind of motion capture screen test. We put on a suit, and I did two scenes with Andy.

"Sort of short you know, basically, wasn't ... I have no class but for some reason, he thought I would be fun to work with. So yeah I was blessed."

Both Kebbell and Serkis have worked with motion capture with this film, to bring the ape characters to life.

Serkis is returning to the role of Caesar, having given a terrific performance in the first film.

Matt Reeves is in the director's chair for the film, while Gary Oldman, Keri Russell and Jason Clarke are also on board,

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is released 17th July.
